How does it work?
The first thing you need to know about BibleSMS is that is uses shortcodes. A shortcode is a keyword that
is comprised of the following three parts:
Keeping in mind what a shortcode is, the resulting SMS that you send must consist of a shortcode which is
predeced by the word "bible". Below is an example of how shortcodes are used in an SMS:
Book
Chapter
Verse
Shortcode
Example 1
James
2
19
bible jam 2:19
Example 2
Psalms
23
4
bible psa 23:4
Example 3
1 John
2
16
bible 1jo 2:16
As you can see from the shortcode examples used in the above table, the SMS will start with the word "bible"
followed by a blank space and then finally the shortcode. The shortcode is a word or code consisting of the
first three letters of the book name, followed by a blank space, the chapter number found in that book and
then lastly the number of the verse found in the chapter of that book. A colon ":" is used to seperate the
chapter number and verse number in the shortcode.
